I do so love the 'Clean and Simple' style and here is my clean and simple Christmas card. It was quick and easy to make - perfect for Christmas!

The True Meaning of Christmas

Isn't it so important to remember the true meaning of Christmas? I was looking for a new stamp which did just that. I thought that this stamp (which I found at the November Stitch and Crafts Show in Belfast) fitted the bill just perfectly.

Christmas Cards - at last!

Things have been pretty hectic - and stressful around the Smith household lately and I have just not had very much time to craft. However, I have managed a few Christmas cards and here is one of them. I hope you like it.

Time to Craft!

I took some time to craft yesterday and I really did enjoy it. I find it relaxing and theraputic - some me time! This is the second card I made yesterday and, strangely enough, I think I like it! I wanted to make something pretty and delicate and I hope I have achieved this. This is for a very special lady. I hope you like it!

Less is More - Challenge 36 - One Layer - Heart

Here is my take on this week's challenge. I have gone in a slightly different direction than I usually would so I may just HAVE to make another card in my usual style!!

Less is More - Week 34 - Sketch Challenge

And here we have another post - quite unbelievable I know! This is another challenge that I enjoy taking part in but again just wasn't able to find the time. My Craft Room is even tidy at the moment - must have been the lack of crafting. Don't you find it so much easier to create in a tidy room!

I do love to use black and white with an accent colour - it usually works well! This time I have used a bright pink - a good girly combination!

Less is More Challenge - Week 29 - Things That Move

At last I have found the time to make some cards! The summer has just flown past and have not had nearly as much time to spend in the craft room as I hoped. The positive thing, however, is that at long last I have spent the time completely decluttering, tidying and sorting the craft room and is now much more organised and acceptable for visitors!!! It was so untidy I avoided taking anyone in there when I could! Now that it is tidy the creativity can begin!

So, here is my take on 'Something That Moves'.

Happy Birthday to my lovely Auntie!

Today is my lovely Auntie's birthday. She is in her late seventies and has just spent many weeks in hospital recovering from a stroke. Unfortunately last week she fell and fractured her hip, is back in hospital and has undergone hip surgery. We wanted to make today a special day for her! My youngest daughter and I spent yesterday evening putting together a small scrapbook and making cards while my husband baked the birthday cake - chocolate - yummy!!!

This morning I was up early and have already completed a scrapbook page to replace the front page - which I decided duriing the night that I didn't like!!!

Here are the cards I made for her husband to send and also ourselves.

Less is More Colour Challenge!

At last I squeezed in the time to make a card! The challenge was to create clean and simple card with shades of blue. This is what I made.

What an End of Term Party!

We had a busy day at our house today. Anna had two parties to attend! What a bit of coiffeuring - now you have to bear in mind Anna is all of 11!!! The first party was a birthday party and she enjoyed it very much but the second party was even more exciting! It was an end of term party. Anna is leaving her primary school and moving to grammar school. Only two of her classmates are going to the same school and so they will shortly have to say their goodbyes. One of her friends decided to have a leaving party Anna (along with the others) was collected in a Stretch Hummer! How exciting!! My parents were here, my sister was here and after it arrived most of the neighbours were out too!!! Here are some pics!

Less is More - Monogram Challenge!

Last week, including the weekend was an extremely busy week for me and I didn't get the opportunity to participate in last week's 'Less is More' challenge. I was determined that this week would be different and somehow I would squeeze in some crafting time! Here is the result - I hope you like it!

Less is More Challenge!

This is the first time I have submitted to the Less is More Challenge! I love the 'Clean and Simple' style and most of my cards end up coming into this category, just recently I discovered this fantastic blog and I made some time today to take part. The challenge today was to design a card with a Monochromatic colour scheme and this is what I came up with!

Sweet Sixteen!

Another Sweet 16 card! The recipient of my last card decided she would like one for her friend whose birthday is this week. This is the result - made at around 11.00 at night - in a rush!

A Teenage Birthday Card

Sometimes it's hard to know where to start with a card. This was one of those times! That was where the large PTI number dies came in , coupled with the shiny pink metallic card they served as the focal point of the card and worked well with the kraft, pink and black colour combo.

And another ...!!!

This is another of the batch of cards I managed to make last weekend. Thought I'd try something a little different with Papertrey Ink's purple shades of cardstock and Turning a New Leaf stamp set. I think I liked how it turned out!

I Think I'm on a Roll!

Did I say how much I enjoyed crafting yesterday? Maybe I did, but I have to say it again! I absolutely loved having time to craft - I find it so theraputic. I kept popping back in to the Craft Room to have another go - and another, and another!!

This is another of my efforts!

At last - Time to Craft!

Oh boy, have I been waiting for this day! A day when I have time to tiday the Craft Room - and then time to work in it!

Things have been very busy here - the girls' birthdays were both over the Easter hols and that coupled with the fantastic weather crafting just did not happen! More recently, my lovely Auntie had a stroke and so I have spent much time at the hospital supporting her as best I can.

Anyway here is the first product of my efforts. I received a telephone call just today to let me know that my cousin Brianna in Canada has just had a baby boy and this is the card I made for her and her partner Shaun.

A Birthday Card!

I wanted to make a pretty card for one of my friends whose birthday it was today. My mojo just wasn't what it should have been and, although I spent some time on it, it didn't turn out to be just what I expected. I suppose we all have days like that!

I used two pretty whimsical butterfly images by Doodlebug and coloured them with Copics, I then stamped out the Waltzingmouse label with Memento Rose Bud ink and used a little Papertrey Ink sentiment in the centre. I added some pink grosgrain ribbon and some little pink rhinestones to finish after scoring a trellis design on the paler blue cardstock (The Papermill - before it closed!).

Could I also say a huge thank you to my friend Joyce for her hospitality and generosity yesterday! She sent me away from her house armed with loads of crafting goodies - thank you again, Joyce!

In the Pink!

Another simple little card!

My Daughters's Party Invitation!

I spent yesterday evening making party invitations for my youngest daughter! I decided to use the Waltzingmouse banners set and I just loved it! As I had quite a few to make (!) I needed to keep it 'clean and simple' (my usual format anyway) and easy to put together. I hope the results are pretty and springlike!

A Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are not easy to do - especially when it is for someone that you know. When I make a sympathy card I want to create something subtle, gentle and comforting. I also try to choose the words carefully and for this card I have used a set from Papertrey Ink.

The Power of Crafting!

My oldest daughter, Laura, is 13 years old. She only crafts when the need arises! She is a big fan of the country singer Taylor Swift so when she heard that Taylor was coming to Belfast she sprang into crafting action! She decided to make posters - complete with fairy lights round the edges(!) and customised t-shirts for her and her friend Megan. She worked hard on them and did a good job - a good enough job for her and Megan to be noticed and chosen from thousands of fans at the Odyssey to meet Taylor Swift at the end of the concert!

Boards and Beams!

I really love this Boards and Beams set. I know, I've used it lots before, but - here it is again . This time it has a little more bling and, of course, a different colourway!

Thursday 3 March 2011

Another little Thank you card!

I thought I would try a more contemporary look. I think it works?!!

Tuesday 1 March 2011

Some more results of my crafting!

I soooo love everything PTI! This card has a few goodies that I sent for recently including the flower dies.

Monday 28 February 2011

Card Making Results!

I made some time over the weekend for a little bit of crafting - so theraputic! Now, I'm fairly pleased with the cards I have made but not the mess - thank goodness the Craft Room is upstairs and out of sight!!!

I coloured this little flower image ages ago with Copics and like how it turned out - I think the image is Inkadinkadoo. I quite like this little flower and hope to try it again with different palettes. The cardstock is two tone - dark grey/pale greyish beige, the leaves are die cut with a Sizzix die which I have had for ages and the other stamping is from my Victorian Fripperie set from WMS.

AND ANOTHER!!!

Thank you cards by the score!!

Friday 18 February 2011

... AND ANOTHER!

i'm afraid it's all thank you cards at the moment and this is another of them!

I was hoping to receive a Papertrey Ink delivery before the weekend so that I could make a 50th birthday card with their new large number dies - at the moment it is not looking good!! Shop bought it may have to be!

Thursday 17 February 2011

Something to post - at last!

Finally, I managed to make it into the Craft Room! where I made some thank you cards for my daughter and this is one of them!

A Little Winter Papertrey!

I was fortunate enough to spy and purchase a Papertrey Ink set with die to match which contained these ice skates - I love them! In fact I love everything Papertrey! The die I have used at the bottom of this card is actually from MFT but this release of Papertrey contains two very similar dies which actually have an improved design from this one. The die is designed in such a way that it has 'extra' metal at the bottom to help with 'lining up' - this saves the sticky tape that I have to use with mine for the same purpose!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! A New Year is time for new resolutions - time when we take stock and decide to make more time for things that are important to us. I find this an exciting time! At the moment I have so many things I want to do that I really have no idea how I am going to fit them all in! One of them however, is making more time to craft - and to post here on my blog! Here's wishing you all a happy, peaceful and creative 2011!
